Project Overview
DS Architects engaged WildAcre Studio to create a documentary-style film showcasing the design and development of the Science Precinct at Deakin University.
The project explored the thinking behind the building’s architecture, highlighting how the design responded to the needs of students, researchers and educators while creating a striking new centrepiece for the campus.
The Challenge
The Science Precinct was a significant architectural project featuring advanced laboratory facilities and a dramatic central atrium designed to encourage collaboration and interaction.
The challenge was to communicate not only what the building looked like, but why it was designed the way it was and the impact it would have on its users.
The Solution
WildAcre Studio developed a documentary-style film combining interviews with project stakeholders, cinematic architecture footage and aerial imagery.
The story was structured around four key themes: project context, client vision, design narrative and completed architecture. This approach allowed the film to communicate the project’s development from initial brief through to final delivery while showcasing the building’s most distinctive design features.
Audience Response
The completed film was published on the DS Architects website and received strong feedback from the project team.
The documentary successfully communicated both the architectural vision and design rationale behind the project while showcasing the completed building in a visually engaging format.
